  • [Drama Warning] Kryssstal is Threatening to Doxx ALTTP Runners?

Doesn't seem the Zelda community can not have drama going on for longer than a week. First people buy their domain, now threats towards others.

      It appears so CarNage64

Kryssstal's A Link to the Past runs have been heavily scrutinized and the source of much controversy since they happened in 2013. There have been many accusations of cheating made against them but no convincing evidence was ever found to prove they were not legitimate. A recent accusation from another player who has had a close relationship with her in the past had rekindled suspicion. The claim was that she was confirmed cheating in other games (namely, IIDX), and along with suspicious behavior this caused him to be very confident that her ALttP runs were not legitimate.
This was not enough for us to take any committed action as no new evidence related to the ALttP runs, nor any related to the claim of cheating in IIDX, was brought to our attention. We began to look at the runs again and compile details about her tenure in this game, but with nothing new to work with there was little more we could do. At this point a few top players of the game began to analyse her gameplay and found there to be many peculiarities which appeared to be unrealistic.
We really like to have a high level of confidence when removing a run from the leaderboard, especially a landmark one such as this, and we still didn't have any smoking gun or anything truly definitive. It was a bit later that it was confirmed (by Kryssstal herself) that she posted fake scores in IIDX. This was a huge blow to confidence and what really pushed us to move forward.
The way we arrived at this decision is a little unorthodox, and we are not trying to set a precedent with this process, but it's a truly unique situation so we'll explain why we chose to approach it this way.
We decided to compile all we could for and against the legitimacy of her runs and offer the top 20 players and SRC supermods the option to vote on whether or not the run would stay on the leaderboard. A big part of the incredulity surrounding the runs was based on analysis of gameplay, so we thought it logical to consult the highest level players of the game, since they would be able to interpret these specific factors most accurately. Kryssstal and the player making the accusation were excluded from the voting process.
We still didn't believe that anything was definitive; if we did, we would have acted on it without question. The truth is the leaderboard belongs to the players, and if they feel like the level of suspicion is high enough that they don't feel good about having the run listed next to theirs, then that should be taken into account. We also don't want to put unnecessary pressure on them, as they never asked for or accepted any responsibility in running the leaderboard, so they were given the option to not participate. The moderators of course were not given that option.
Information compiled was meant to cover both gameplay and technical analysis, and to present the case both for and against removing the runs. We wanted to gather what we thought to be most relevant to the conclusion we had to draw, and also to address myths or rumors that have developed over the years regarding the runs. The completed document that was presented to all voters can be found here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1...rDT-pdvklt5K4/
All voters were given a full week to make their decision. The results of the vote were observed and verified by multiple members of the moderation team, and we would like to thank all participants for their time. The decision at this time is to remove Kryssstal's run from the leaderboard. This decision will remain unless something new and significant is brought to our attention.
We're receptive to feedback and will answer questions but please keep responses civil. This was a very difficult decision and we know there will be mixed reception. We're aware a lot of people have very strong feelings about Kryssstal but please refrain from any personal attacks or reviving any old personal conflicts here.
