To get to the secret room, press the menu, talk, card and cancel button at the same time on the organ at the chapel. You'll get the valuable Rosetta Stone and you'll end up in the prisoner's room where you fought the red giant. the door will be unlocked.
I used the "FF8 Launcher" to play at a fixed aspect ratio of 4:3 rather than 16:9. Though the recording went smoothly but the sound is too crispy...
