Basetrade wont cast KESPA Cup due to the %'s of money cut KESPA is asking for licencing.

    Incase it gets deleted:

    Dear fans,

we ask for your support as we regret to inform you we will no longer be trying to cast anything related to the KESPA Cup. It'll be the first major WCS event in almost 4 years that we won't be providing English coverage of, for the qualifiers.

It's currently 3 days before the qualifiers begin and there's been 0 communication from KESPA confirming *any* streamers. Additionally, for those who don't know, they're also trying to force revenue sharing in order to cast their qualifiers (aka we have to give them any money we earn during the broadcast). Attached to this post is a screenshot of our September ad revenue for those to see, as we also shared it with KESPA, trying to show that even popular streamers like us don't make very much on a broadcast.
This is alarming to us because the esports part of Blizzard that is in charge of these things, has made it clear that they don't consider this something serious, and are fine with KESPA trying to extort streamers for free labour. How long until other organization begin implementing forced revenue sharing? How long until we can't afford to stream? Starcraft is already in an unstable state where popularity is questionable, but it will only get worse if the few people left aren't able to earn a living off of it.
But to avoid ending this on a whiny sour note, we do want to take this time to thank you, our fans, for helping us be where we are currently. We're lucky enough that we can turn our attention towards focusing on the events we've built up over the years (Weekly Olimoleagues, Corsair Cups, and once off bigger events like Ting). We're looking forward to next week's Temporary Team League as well, as it's an experiment of sorts for bigger ideas behind it, so make sure to tune in for it! (Sept 15-17th)
    Again, thanks for being awesome.
