The mentors are usually the characters that teach the main character how to use their abilities or powers in those types of situations. They also sometimes serve as the senpai to which a character might want to be noticed by. Mentor archetypes come in many many variations depending on the anime. Sometimes the main character himself is the mentor, like in Hellsing. other times its a true mentor like Nozaki in Gekkan Shojou Nozaki-kun. And even other times, the mentor is that crazy perv who is trying to teach the main character about lusting for women. Who are your favorite mentor like characters?

GTO or gtfo! Seriously though, this is the first one I thought of when I thought mentor. Such a great character, despite all his flaws, there is almost no length Onizua won't go to for his students. I would be ashamed of myself if I didn't at least mention Master Roshi, and his alter ego Jackie Chun.
