  • Mushroom Biomes

Earlier on the server Kensei mentioned about not being able to find jungle biomes on the server, so I decided to poke around google and see if it could be related to our over abundance of mushroom biomes.

Turns out it's a slight issue with the biomes o plenty mod if vanilla world gen is used, as the mod tries to control a good chunk of the vanilla biomes they won't spawn, leading to a world where a lot of it is replaced by mushroom biomes and biomes like magical forest that come from other mod packs. I've seen that some people have fixed the biome generation by changing the world type to the biomes o plenty on in the server.properties file and then anything new is generated according to the way the mod is supposed to act.

It's not that big of an issue but it may cause problems for people who need things like ocelots for various uses (like dimlets).

Never knew about this, thanks for sharing LionOrphenoc... As for our server without risking stuff, we wont be able to find these jungle zones when it gets changed unless you explore out of the chunks that have not been loaded by other players.

Well it would have the bonus of forcing people out from that 1k radius of spawn they seem to like living in.

Also just double checked the correct world type would be "BIOMESOP" without the quotation marks.

After a little more research (so much conflicting stuff out there...)

The specific config file you want to edit, should you want to go that route, is config/BiomesOPlenty.cfg. You'll want to change B:"Add Biomes To Default World"=false to B:"Add Biomes To Default World"=true. Keep in mind that this will reset every time the FTB pack updates, and you'll need to change it each time to keep getting the new generation.
May be the path of least resistance for fixing further biome generation, though yeah most places pretty much say "you should probably generate a fresh map"

Maybe we'll just keep our map unique. I have found some jungles in our world, just not common at all LionOrphenoc

Hey LionOrphenoc there is no BiomesOPlenty.cfg.

                    In
                    config/BiomesOPlenty/ folder theres the following:

                    biomegen.cfg
                    biomeweights.cfg
                    ids.cfg
                    main.cfg
                    misc.cfg
                    terraingen.cfg.

I went through the .cfg files and it looks like they must have removed the option to override the biome generation on an already created map.

so hes going to try something different and load a new map, copy some jungle biomes and port them into our ftb map, not sure how it will work out atm. theres a backup incase all hell breaks loose lol.

I'll have a play around with the mod when I'm done working through my current one but that look like a pretty promising method
