  • I am looking to Start speed running- I have some noob questions

I am looking to speed run either PC FF3 or FF13 on the Xbox 360. Now I know 0 about consoles and what FPS they run at and if any of the consoles that run FF13 are faster than others.

So the main 2 questions are:
If I run FF13 on the Xbox360 is it slower than running it on the Xbox one? or PS4? or Ps3? Like the PS2 slim line runs games faster then the PS1 so it got me wondering.

Question 2: How do I go about making a route for the speed run on FF13?

Sorry in advance for the silly questions but you guys know a lot about speed running and I would like to hear what you think.

The Playstation Version seems to be faster than the xbox version as most runners prefer that versions. And correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't it impossible to play older games on the ps4 other than psn downloaded games?

For routing I would say you should watch other runners and take notes of their videos. I'm also sure they are open to answer your questions directly if you have any.

FF7 No Slots (PAL PSN) 11:21:07 (Version Record, very outdated)

      1. For like last generation and this generation its normally 60fps but if you go retro its 30fps but only for streaming quality. Luckly enough as long the game is visible and its easy to recognize what's going on you should be good along our wiki.

For FF3 & 13 which I don't know any runners you may have to do a casual playthrough to get yourself familiar with the game. I also recommend checking sites out like gamefaqs to see if their are any guides for you to follow to see what you need to do when. After you get your casual run done try different ideas and etc to see what is faster / slower.
If you get at least the amount you put into it then go ahead. Otherwise I suggest you don't do it.

How much faster is the PS3? I will check out that link, thank you Wypy. Nick I will visit the wiki and I will start playing it casually for now to get to grips with it thanks.

Yeah, your options are typically limited if the game isn't heavily ran already. (lack of notes to be taken) However the plus side is you have an opportunity to innovate and make new routes.

I know there were notes for FF13 somewhere but they are probably outdated now. Once you get familiar with the run you may get more creative and find new strats. Never be afraid to try.

IIRC load times are a little longer and the disc swapping makes the xbox version slower.
