  • Windows 10... Yay or Nay?

Topic says it all, I been debating from upgrading from 8.1 to windows 10 but I been seeing mixed stories on Twitter about massive amount of issues and then some saying its amazing. Just wondering on others experiences in the team with the updating process so far and the new OS.

I've had windows 10 installed since the 29th, so I'm probably going to have as much experience with this as anyone (unless we have people who were using the insider version), as a note I'm using an AMD based system (both graphics and processor) so if you're using intel or nvidia stuff your mileage may vary.

But so far I've not run into many issues, everything I've thrown at it that worked on windows 8 or 7 has run near perfectly, in face WoW actually runs a little better for me which is kinda surprising, but that could just be, being on a clear system. I've had occasional issues with the minimise, maxime and close buttons not appearing at the top of some windows but that's a minor issue as you can right click up there to bring a menu up with it on.

Effectively as someone else put it, windows 10 is windows 8.2.

However I've been hearing horror stories about the nvidia drivers for windows 10 and them not working properly, so if you're using an nvidia graphics card it may be worth waiting a month or two until those issues are resolved.

I say wait for the games to support DirectX12, I've been told that some games won't run with DirectX12 as theys support 11 and 9.

Remember you have a year to do the upgrade so don't rush it.

I'm going to wait a month or two just to give time to make sure everything I use works on 10.
If you get at least the amount you put into it then go ahead. Otherwise I suggest you don't do it.

I've had no issues running it so far, its been solid. I am concerned though over the "life of the device"... They will have to sort that out ASAP. I still have my Windows 7 discs though

If 10 is like most Windows OS's just wait for the first service pack so that they can iron out most of the glitches and bugs.

I hope they really change their stance on Life of the device or atleast tell us EXACTLY what it means... Not beat around the bush
