Building a new computer

I'm working on building a PC for the first time and I am trying to figure out the best Graphics card, Processor, and RAM to work with it for gaming.

I'm not looking for something extremely expensive, but something that would last me a year or so before upgrading.

The thing I always do is check out NewEgg.com and read reviews, look at specs, compare products, etc...

They also have pretty good prices, and TigerDirect.com is basically identical, but with a less friendly User Interface.

Thank you, M3lt0n, I was doing that for a while but it's hard to tell what are the best for gaming when it comes down to it. I like getting input on what others prefer to use Brand wise, top choice, such like that.

Brands I've used and have had major success with are:

Motherboards - Asus, Gigabyte
Video Cards - XFX, EVGA, HIS
Processor - AMD Phantom II series, and AMD FX series
Power Supply - Always Rosewill
Ram - GSkill and Patriot


I've built about 15 computers in the last 3 years, and those are the brands that have worked the best.
I don't build too many Intel PCs, they are more expensive and the results aren't incredibly noticeable if you get nicer stuff.
