I've never played DnD before, but would be willing to give it a go if there's a newbie friendly group involved in this. I work mornings so usually can show up anytime after 2pm PST (just not too late)

Lets do this!!! I'm willing to help teach, so is Tay if you need help with making a character go on http://pcgen.org/ download the program and it'll basically help you build your character fairly quickly. right now we have 1 Half-Orc Barbarian and a 1 Elf Rogue, if you want help choosing a class or race to play feel free to message me on steam ign "Tizano" usually online around 3pm EST, For a general list of classes to play go here http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/core-classes , and for a general set of races go here http://www.d20pfsrd.com/races/core-races .
So... pcgen will basically guide your through the character creation process, it'll tell you step by step on how to create your character and give you a general idea what kind of things you need to do to finish your character, it will also help with building feats / traits and skills and tell you exactly what each trait/feat/skill does + it'll help you with buying / crafting and other neat tools... it is also transfers over to roll20 site fairly easily.
The D20 website is a great resource for looking up certain/specific things, however it can also give a lot of useful information for your character and whatever you want to build him towards.

Before you start getting people to create characters you probably want to place restrictions and decide the stat rolling method, I'd personally advise at first just to keep people to the core rule book just as it'll make it easier on people rather than going through books of stuff and easier on the GM to prevent abuse. As for stats that's all up to preference, but there is everything from point buy to rollings 4d6 take away the lowest, or 2d6+6 depending on the feel of the game you want.

4D6 taking away the lowest is the one i always prefer to use, so we'll just stick to that one. I'd also very much rather stick to the core rule book, (i don't have the advanced player's guide yet anyways) but i won't completely force it. If anybody strongly desires to use content not in the main book they'll need to warn me beforehand so i can look it up and make extra notes and won't be caught off guard.
I tried out the PCgen character creater that Tizano suggested last night, and it works pretty well. It took a minute to figure everything out but it wasn't too hard, and it has all the Pathfinder character creation rules built-in so it keeps track of how many skills you have, your racial bonuses, ability modifiers, etc.Last edited by TheTayLord; 09-21-2015, 10:26 AM.

Just to make a point for Tizzy's sake, those of us with some experience (god that sounds condescending) may prefer using other methods to generate characters, I have a strong preference for herolab as it lets me output PDFs for the GMs sake whilst maintaining my character via the program it's self. Though if Tay is against it I have no issue using something else but some times you just wanna wear the worn out pair of shoes instead of something new and uncomfortable.

If you prefer something else, feel free to go ahead. Just making sure people know there's easier ways to create characters instead of doing it all by hand. Unless somebody prefers to not use a program, which is fine too. Roll20 has it's own character sheets as well, so the info can be input to your character inside the game and makes it faster to look up.

Yesterday was sort of a success, just a reminder that the group will be meet again 7pm CST, (if you're not sure of your time zone you should look it up before hand), for anyone not finished creating their characters feel free to ask lion, taylord, or myself for help and we'll try to help you to the best of our abilities...
