The Eyeless is an operations boss available to fight during the Rakghoul Resurgance Event, with four different setups (8 man, 16 man, Story Mode, and Hard Mode) and a weekly lockout for each difficulty mode. This means that each character you have tha meets the level requirement can defeat The Eyeless once per event run.
The Eyeless can be fought in his instance without getting the [OPS] Heart of the Infection quest, meaning that there is no reputation requirement to fight him. If you'd like to grab the quest for it's rewards, you will need to purchase a THORN Priority Authorization from the resputation vendor. Doing so requires Outsider standing with THORN.
Time Taken: 10-15 Minutes.
Reccomended Group Setup: 1 Tank, 2 Heals, 5 DPS (melee and ranged)
Level requirement: 20 and above for story mode (those under Level 55 will be bolstered) and 55 for Hard Mode.
8 Man Story Mode: 2.44 Million HP
8 Man Hard Mode: 3.8 Million HP
Note that only one tank is required for this encounter, as there is no tank swapping mechanic. You should still expect to pick up at least two healers, as 3 are needed for 16M SM.
When the group enters the instance, everyone should run around the boss, no to him and kill the trash mobs wandering around the area. These mobs can be found somewhat close to The Eyeless, but he will not aggro unless you pull him. After all trash is cleared, make sure everyone is positioned how you want them (normally tank in front with melee DPS, and RDPS between them, and healers in the back.
The mechanics for this fight are pretty straight forward and do not change regardless of difficulty. Here is a brief summary:
Tank and Melee DPS (MDPS) are to focus on The Eyeless, not the adds that spawn occasionally. There is a purple reticicle you will want to avoid (Damage and knockback), along with a green one if he moves (stacking debuff, 1 shot mechanic)
Ranged DPS are to focus on The Eyeless when Adds are not up, avoiding the green reticicle (stacking debuff, 1 shot mechanic)
Healers are to stay a safe distance, avoiding green reticicles if they pop up, and keep the raid alive.
Now, an explanation:
Firstly, The Eyeless will use an ability called [b]Infected Phlegm[b]. When this happens a green circle will be thrown on the ground. STAY OUT OF IT. Anyone caught in the circle will get a stacking debuff. It isn't a DoT but at 10 stacks in Story Mode (5 in Hard Mode), it will kill you and anyone around you.
The major thing Tank and MDPS will have to worry about is an ability called Crush. A giant purple reticicle will appear under The Eyeless. Failure to move out of it will result in massive damage and a knockback.
The Eyeless has an AoE, Pound, that will mostly only deal damage to melee and tank.
Occasionally during the fight, Adds will spawn. These are standard Rakghouls with around 12k HP on Story Mode (20k on Hard). They aren't hard to deal with, and Ranged DPS should focus on them. In my experience, they typically come following Crush.
