I had mixed feelings on reporting this due to the nature of the events and the fact that there are no 100% facts yet hence this is put under the rumors column for now. Chloe Sagal, developer of indie horror game Homesick, has successfully crowd-funded an operation that will save her life.
After a near-fatal car crash a few years ago she was left with shrapnel in her body, and now has metal poisoning. Her prognosis of having a few years to remove the remnants recently took a turn for the worse.
She collapsed and was taken to hospital, where she was told she had months and not years, and would lose basic functions before she died.
Recently all the donations to help this person out has disappeared and was taken down. Eurogamer contacted Indiegogo in which they told them "Indiegogo has a proprietary and effective fraud algorithm and when suspicious activity is detected the campaign is immediately suspended and all contributors are refunded" thus bringing us to this:

I've failed at everything I love, I've even failed at saving myself countless times, all because I'm a coward.
If it wasn't enough, everyone was quick to tell me that I had failed, as if no one else had bothered to tell me. Constantly barraging me over and over and over, as if I needed to know...

Some gameplay of a pretty scary indie game, Homesick.
